Post Secret

I went to hear Frank Warren, the creator of Post Secret, speak last night at the University of Maryland. If you don't know about the project, I highly suggest checking out the blog and reading some of the secrets that people from all over the place have mailed to Frank. I've followed the website since maybe 2005 and check it religiously every weekend - it's comforting and also eye-opening to read the things that people keep inside of them and so often I can empathize with what is written on the cards. During the Q & A/sharing session tonight, many people got up and shared secrets and also stories about how Post Secret has helped them or inspired them to do something. It's inspiring to see something as seemingly insignificant as a blog having such a positive impact on so many people.

As great as it is to know that so many people go through the same things and that we're maybe not all that different after all, there is still such a barrier between people in everyday life. It's beyond reason, but I wish that there was a way to bring people together in real time to share their experiences on a personal level, rather than on a website or at a large, slightly anonymous gathering of people.
